Johnny Walker first panned for gold in Clear Creek as a boy, watching the black sand swirl away to reveal tiny flakes of yellow treasure. That moment sparked a lifelong passion that would take him to creeks, rivers, and historic mining sites across Colorado and beyond.
Over four decades, Johnny has accumulated not just gold, but an encyclopedic knowledge of Colorado prospecting history—the lost treasures, the legendary outlaws, the boom-and-bust mining towns that shaped the West.
He opened Clear Creek Prospecting Supply with a simple mission: to be the store he wished existed when he started—a place where beginners could learn without judgment, experienced prospectors could find quality gear, and everyone could enjoy a cup of coffee and a good story.
